@PhilippeAndreFilms I wrote and directed this video for Placebo in 2006. It’s so much heartwarming to see how my short film can connect with all of you. ‘Song to say goodbye’ was so inspiring, I wrote a story following the lyrics but being distant from them at the same time, to not illustrate and let it open to interpretation. I first made a 4’ music video for ‘Song to say goodbye’ then suggested this 8 minutes extended version. Thank you so much to all of you for your wonderful comments.
This video is so important in my life for so many years now. I've been thinking a lot about its director and the two actors who made it exist, its really moving to read you today. I couldn't thank you enough sir.
I just wanted to let you know that your film hit so close to home for me, that it made me cry. Incredible work my friend. Thank you for creating this...
Thank you for this awesome piece of art, this video inspired me and really helped with my depression after the death of my grandma and a full-scale war between my country and the neighbour one.
Sir, You should be awarded Oscar, Palme d’Or, Golden Lion, etc. You did excellent job. Much better then all of modern rubbish movies. I think, I can clearly say that this video saved My life. Simply - Thank You.
Well deserved. It's one of the best musical videos ever created, there's truly no discussion on that. This video has been a touching masterpiece to me since its very first release and it still has the same effect in 2023. Thank YOU for your wonderful opera
Sir my mother always tells me that I used to cry watching this video when I was a 5-6 years old kid. I don't know why but the kid's obligation to guide the adult felt so strong and wrong for me. I felt the message back then, I feel it even more right now, and I'm still crying. Thank you! I hope you'll read this one day, your work is sooo appreciated!
I think you’ve done one of the most iconic video. Really inspiring, it give me lot of different emotions. Just to thank you for this great, wonderful masterpiece. from Italy!
Great and pure art that you have made. We watch again and again to decipher, symbolize, guess and extract any meaning from this video and years on people still do it. Great job!
This might be one of the best music video that I have ever seen, hand in hand with Edgar Wright’s Mint Royal Blue song. Thank you so much for creating this. Well done
Thank you this is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. It hits so close to home it makes me cry every time I watch it. I’ve never experienced a music video like this, and probably never will again
Congratulations sir, you made me cry on a random Wednesday night. This hurt me and made me grateful at the same time, which is probably what art is all about. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for this video. It's absolutely moving. And rather unique in the world of music videos. I cannot think of many music videos that move me as much.
You’ve done an amazing job. Back in 2006 when I watched this song on Mtv, I was a teenager. Now I'm in my early 30's. But this song never lost it’s charm. It’s a timeless music video & every time I watch it, there are tears in my eyes. Thank you so much for making this. Much love to you. May God bless you.
Today i saw this video for the first time, and wow, saying goodbye to your childhood before your time has never been pictured so daunting. En for the therapy
I'll use this chance to thank you. This video clip is one of the best depictions of what I felt during my entire childhood, being the son of man devoured by depression, alcoholism and gambling. In my case, no one drove me home in the end. However, now that I am a father, I like to rewatch it from time to time to remind me that I am the one driving in the end. Thanks, truly.
As many comments have said a work of art, a masterpiece that makes a perfect visual interpretation of a perfect song. For different emotional reasons this video and Elbow's video for One day like this have me in tears every single time and the day those tears stop my time will be up.
Hi, to me this video, rappresents the liberation from adults influence, expecially negative and from all the weights the child has to carry. In fats, at the end, the kid finally doesn't drive alone anymore. Anyway it is one of my favourite together with the song. Thank you for your fabulous job!
You created something that has touched the hearts of many and will touch the hearts of many for years to come, it's a beautifully sad touching video that so many can relate to on different levels, you should be so proud of your work so should your family and friends. Fantastic work thank you.
The music is good. The filming even better. If you really record this, you hit home. You really did. You see the emotion. The struggle. You feel sorry that kid. That endless fight, It is all there. When video meets music..
The video is open to interpretation, some will see it as a metaphor of their inner struggles, some will see reflected their own parent-child relationship.
I remember I saw this video on MTV when I was still a kid and I related to the adult in this video so much; Now, almost 20 years later, I cry every time I see this video. This is pure art.
Un mélange de profonde tristesse à chaque écoute de ce morceau magnifique qui est tellement bien fait le clip décrit une réalité déchirante un talent immense
So fucking beautiful, piece of art with With tears in my eyes. After so many years, when I watched the shortened version on MTV as a child, I finally came back to this, thank you
